Good middle pickup to mix with JB bridge and Classic Stack Plus neck.

I was hoping to get a middle classic stack as well, but I haven't been able to find one in black used. What's another Duncan that would mix well with the JB bridge and STK-S4n? I'm looking for pure vintage tone from the middle and neck and a good quacky strat sound from the JB and middle. Going in a Jackson DK-2.

This is just me ramblin' . . . but if you're looking for used and cheap, maybe an older Classic Stack, or a Vintage Rails/Duckbucker. Those last two are more or less the same with different cosmetics.

The Classic Stack would be a nice "mellow" tone when used on its own. The VR/Duck would have a bit more "bite" to them, but not overwhelming.

I see a lot of guys love the Duckbucker. I guess it's got a real vintage tone and "quacks" well with the bridge and neck?

I'd have thought that the Duckbucker would work well in that setup.

If it doesnt have to be humbucking grab an SSL-1. Thats classic tone to me and theres a couple for sale in the trading post.

That I'm not sure of. If you mean personal preference, I don't mind the typical strat buzz. Grew up with it. If you mean because the classic stack and JB are humbuckers, that I don't know. I'm not even sure if the classic is a true humbucker. I'm not educated really in that aspect.

It is. ;)

Any of the Cool Rails, Vintage Rails, Duckbucker, or even another Classic Stack would all be hum-cancelling and fill the bill well. The Cool Rails would be the hottest of that bunch. They'ld all be "cool", however.

Another STK-S4 Classic Stack Plus, or if you want something with a milder magnet, try a STK-S1 classic stack (original one had alnico II magnets, I'm being told by MJ).

Likewise, if you want cheaper pickups, alnico II pro staggered, or even a vintage staggered. What style of music do you play the most? What kind of guitar is this? (woods, etc).

My preference is to use the tone wizard as much as possible: i prefer to play jazz from the neck, pop from the middle, and metal from the bridge. Just my preference....

If you're saying you are not sure if you can use a single coil with those pickups, yes you can with no problem.

Good stuff guys, good stuff. I did find another Classic Stack last night--in black--so I'll probably go with that, but I like to know what other options I've got as well. Thank You.
