Good neck p'up to balance with C-5 bridge?

Hi all,

I couldn't find anything under the search function so I thought I'd ask. I have a Les Paul Standard (50s neck) with a open coil C-5 and a stock covered BB Pros neck. They actually sound pretty good together and wondering if it's worth replacing the stock neck. The C-5 in the bridge sounds tremendous.

I was thinking of the 59, PGn or Jazz for the neck. I mostly use the neck for clean in conjunction with the bridge and for some lead playing.

I do have an open coil 59 sitting around but don't want to wast my time if I won't gain much over the stock BB Pro.

Thanks!! :)

59. lot o people here have that combo and love it

I've used the 59n and the PGn with the C-5 and they are both great choices depending on your choice of flavors. The PGn is a bit middier and warmer than the 59n.

Install the 59n.

Thanks guys......it will be interesting to see if it out performs the Burstbucker Pro neck.

I love the PG in my Schecter C-1+ with a C-5 in the bridge. It replaced a 59n ;)

I love the 59b in the neck . Sounds great alone and in combo with the C5 and balances nicely.. I use the 59b model because it gets alittle more of a smokey blues mojo then the normal neck model..
I use this combo in 2 diff axes

Re: Good neck p'up to balance with C-5 bridge?

I guess I was thinking the 59 and C-5 would balance best because they have similar EQ settings but I want to be able to solo on the neck and the 59n in my Dean sounds muddy compared to my Gibson BB Pro neck which I may leave alone. Why fix if it isn't broken. I think the BB Pro neck is like 8k...and low output.

The thing that would always haunt me is that I know what an improvement the C-5 made over the BB Pro bridge so now I am wondering what kind of improvement I'd get in the neck.....but I just have not had many complaints about the neck so maybe I'll keep it.

i say put a PGn in there, so many have a 59 in there. BE DIFFERENT! :)

Re: Good neck p'up to balance with C-5 bridge?

If you think about it....there must be a reason so many have the 59n. In my opinion and what seems to work for me is to have a pickup in the neck and the bridge with similar EQ curves....hence C/5-59....Custom-59.....

The 59 cleans up nicely.. Isnt gonna be a pristine clean as a jazz, but has a great deal of warmth to it.

demon, at 10K it has a perfect amount of output at the neck for a 14K bucker at the bridge and will sound better split :fing2:
