i was an art major, i graduated but i can still get all that stuff for free. it is all in who you hang with. though i really did get a free copy of protools (small track count) straight from digidesign. they really are just as availible if you know the right kind of people.

for example I know this guitar player, he has Cubase ($800) Cakewalk ($300), Sonar Produer ($1000+) and didn't pay for any of them.
