Good Ol' Pro Junior

These have been my guitar-testing amps in stores for a long time.

Finally got one used through GC. The previous owner must have traded/sold it because it was making a horrible humming sound when I got it. Two new EH EL84 tubes and a JJ 12AX7(!!) and all bad sounds are gone.

Little screamers, these guys. It makes guitar fun in a really good touch sensitive way.

I browse GC's in my area all the time, ever since they've started taking in a lot of used gear. I sure wouldn't ever sell or trade anything to them. But, there's a lot of great bargains in their used sections, especially small amps and pedals.

Yeah, trading is a wash with those guys, but if you have a bit of cash, there are some good deals, especially if you search each day on used.guitarcenter.com

Re: Good Ol' Pro Junior

GC took in the inventory when Daddy's Junky Music went under, so they've had a massive amount of used gear out on the floor lately. It's been taking its toll on my wallet, but some great stuff pops up there if you keep your eyes open.

Re: Good Ol' Pro Junior

Still love this amp. :) I would love to get another one in the future for smaller gigs. I got rid of it when I tried to play a bigger place. It wasn't miced and I wasn't heard. I turned it up but then it didn't fit the rest of the music because I felt like I had more overdrive than sounded good for what we were doing. Still want one, a great sounding inexpensive amp that is a tank.

There is one on Guitar Centers website now for $225 and another for $250. Great deals.

EDIT: With the code DEC200, it takes $20 off them. Get a PJ for $205. :)

Re: Good Ol' Pro Junior

When I need to get my TONE on, Tweed Pro Junior baby!!!!

Pro Jr + Tube Screamer = Ahhhhh.

Pro Jr. + Stamps Drive-O-MAtic = Oh hell yes!

Pro Jr. + Catalinbread Super Charged Overdrive = MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH!!!!!!!!!

Re: Good Ol' Pro Junior

Great little amp. Not quite clean enough for me, but killer for the rock, roots or blues player who plays with an overdriven rhythm tone all of the time. I'd like to have one.

I never play with a squeaky clean tone. Even the Blackface module on my 50 watt Randall is ran with the gain up so it's more of a light crunch channel that cleans up well enough for me just using the guitar volume. The PJ crunches quite a bit, but it's dynamic enough to clean up with my pick attack or guitar volume into the same clean-with-hair tone zone.
