Good overdrive pedal for Mesa Mark III

Hey guys. I'm looking to get my hands on a good OD pedal that can I use to hopefully get a more compressed/brighter tone as well as a more heavy/full rhythem. I can get a good hard rock tone right now, but I'm looking to touch base on a Dream Theater type tone somewhat. Is an OD pedal not the way to go? If it doesn't apply to what I want, then I still atleast need one for the clean channel for bluesuer stuff as well as to push the second crunch channel.

Thanks for the help guys!

hmmm I used a V TWIN and I think it fits the bill somewhat. Esp if you use a 12AY7 to reduce some gain in the V TWIN. Just a thought.

I think the V Twin may be a bit too much pedal for what you want. I think the Bottle Rocket would fit the bill.

The Mark III was designed to have 3 modes of operation- a clean tone, a pushed rhythm tone, and a lead tone. With a proper understanding of the amp, you very well may have all of the tones available to you without having to resort to a pedal. Reading and understanding the manual helps.

Oh trust me, I'm still working with what only the amp hasto offer. I am looking into an overdrive pedal because the Mark III just lacks a smidgen of gain. I'm getting closer everyday to achieving a smooth, minimaly buzzy, and sustainful lead tone. I'm looking at OD pedals for a little extra umph.

Tubescreamer is what some people to give the amp "the final push" t ofatten things up a bit more... but I've got no experience yet
Don't know what you mean with "a smidgen of gain"
