Good single coil that sounds a bit like a Custom Custom

Love the Custom Custom humbucker. I've got a Strat that I would like to replace the bridge with something that would be close to the Custom Custom sound. Suggestions?

Thanks

Check to see what the routing on your Strat is. You might be able to fit a CC in there (with a new pickguard). Otherwise check out the Hotrails

there isnt much that will sound like a cc in a single coil size but a hot rails bridge with 250k controls might be as close as youll get

There's nothing...as already said. I'd go to the Duncan Custom Shop and ask MJ to make something as close as possible to an alnico 2 Jerry Donahue or '53 JB Tele pickup in a Strat size. Sort of a custom shop Twangbanger I guess but more like the Tele pickups I mentioned.

custom shop stacked custom custom?

MJ makes Rails pickups with Alnico magnets, I'd start there. You could also try a degaussed Quarter Pound, or lower a stock one quite a bit from the strings.

Drill holes for a tele hot rails in your strat. Seriously close to a custom custom with 500K pots. I'm surprised it doesn't have a nickname like "Tele Custom Custom". The biggest difference is in specs and not really sound. Custom Custom - Alnico 2, Tele Hot Rails - Ceramic. Still sound very close even if they have different magnets.

Straight out of the box true single coil, the Hot Strat SSL-3 has the EQ your after. 1/4lb'er with Alnico II's? 250k pots? ;)
