Good tube amp for an es 335

Hey everyone,

My bro and I are getting my pops some awesome gear for his 55th birthday. I got him an ES-335 and my bro is going to get him a great tube amp. He's having some trouble deciding on a good one though. I would love to hear some suggestions on a great tube amp to go along with that sweet axe. It's going to be used for playing in the house for fun, small pubs, and festival type gigs.

a vintage Gibson amp would look awesome and be 'matched'. Otherwise, plenty of sweet Fenders out there. Everybody wants a 59 Bassman.

Re: Good tube amp for an es 335

A lot of the classic 335 tones (Freddie/BB) were made with 3x10 or 4x10 combos...I'd go for a RI Bassman or a Super Reverb or a Vibrolux for something smaller...

Re: Good tube amp for an es 335

IMnot sure what kind of music he'll be playing and iMnot sur ehow much power he needs (or doesn't need) so I'll give a general answer...a 335 into a tweed Fender is a thing of beauty IMO...

Re: Good tube amp for an es 335

He plays a variety of different stuff ranging from Bad Company to like classic Les Paul. Classic rock, blues, jazz, etc....

I was heavily leaning towards the 65 deluxe myself...but since I'm from a small town originally and dont have alot of experience with anything other than Fender or Marshall amps...I figured I'd ask around before purchasing anything ya know. Thanks for the info.
