With text effects, lighter colors work best, and darker colors should get a lighter drop shadow or some similar outline effect to be seen.
Also, stick with one style of bringing the text in and out. Fading in and out would work best for this track IMO, with maybe a dissolve or two here and there for the choruses just to accentuate those sections.
Maybe throw in a full color-shifting swirl on the "blind" of the chorus.
And definitely work on the timing of the text lines so they come in and leave at the right times.
And for the guitar solo, show it being played rather than just the rhythm and bass. Shoot it from the nut to the bridge or bridge to the nut for variety over the "straight-on" of the rhythm and bass.
Be careful with effect plugins - they're addictive and you can easily end up stringing them end-to-end, ruining the clip.
