Gorgeous new LP Custom!! Champagne burst.

BloodRose

Professional Scapegoat
To me, this is absolutely gorgeous! Plus, its something different than what the normal is. Of course, price will definately keep one OUT of my stable, but since this is unique, I thought Id share here. Looks like it starts as a gold top and fades...

Champagne burst? I was expecting something pinkish. The photos make it look a bit booger green.

That's usually a trick of the light with Gibson tops. If you hold one in your hands and rock it under the light, you'll realize they're usually pretty well bookmatched.

I get it but the wood is still uneven.

I don't care too much for flame tops but at least they matched the wood grain up on this one:

But even then, I don't care for the hard line that always comes up on a 2 piece top. If you are going to have a hard line then I prefer this:

For $5k I would be very picky about such a contrast and hard line on the top...

Almost $5600 and still has one of the most craptacular pickup sets ever

That a carvin? Love Carvin or hate em, they usually have gorgeous figured flame or quilt tops!! I agree with you all as far as the book matching is poor, Espec at the price point!!!!! For that kinda dough, Id expect a nice book match.. It just struck me because its different from the Gibson norm without being tacky like geckoburst or something. And, I personally am not big on gold tops, but this looks like faded gold.. Anyhow, just put it up cuz its different. Due to price, SURELY NOT my next NGD..

I like the color scheme, but it would look better on a plain top. I've never cared much for flamed tops. The spot where they are obviously cut in half and matched always bothers me. You never see just one piece all across the top, probably because of cost issues.

It's usually difficult to photograph Gibson tops since they don't artificially enhance their tops by staining the way other recent makers do. As a result gibsons tops are very 3D in person

Bottom one is a Carvin the top one I believe is just a small luthier build (could be wrong.) I'm very OCD about stuff like that (why I only have one flametop and the rest are either all natural wood grain or painted a solid color.)

But it is a different color scheme so kudos to them.

Re: Gorgeous new LP Custom!! Champagne burst.

The problem with Carvin, which they copied from PRS, is they enhance the grain with stains. They photograph well, but in doing so lose the 3D effect and depth when you see them in person
