Got 25K ?

Re: Got 25K ?

I had enough trouble with one S-1 switch in a strat... what amounts to about 3 of them? Gibson is off their rocker... no wonder they're IMHO on their last legs and Henry J. is almost universally disliked.

Re: Got 25K ?

hey, i found something kinda cool in the specs page; it's got an a3 burstbucker in the neck and an a5 "pagebucker" in the bridge, i'm assuming that it's just an a5 bb2 though. sweet!(goes and nerds out)....

Re: Got 25K ?

Hmm... How many other companies are putting out faithful copies of a `59 burst set up to Jimmy´s specs, aged to duplicate his guitar, and with his endorsement?

Did the Fender EVH replicas sell at 25k? Yes

Is Jimmy Page an Icon that´s been around much longer, who´s guitar is being "copied" by almost every jap knockoff maker? Yes.

Have people been wanting to see this guitar in production for forever and a day? Yes

I don´t agree that his sig should make it 25k vs 10, but alone when looking at the degree of precise aging applied I fully support the 15k price tag on the relic. One has to remember that these guitars aren´t being "randomly" reliced like most others, but are being aged to look precisely like the original. That is much more painstaking, it´s easy to damage something, it´s not so easy to damage something in the exact same way over and over again. we´re talking literally ten times as much man hours because of the details.

W T F??? This is just senseless, misguided Gibson bashing for the pure sake of bashing.

Those 6 switches are there because Jimmy Page put them there decades ago and this is a copy of HIS guitar, not because somebody at Gibson thought it would look cool. Don´t like ´em? Then buy a standard model.

I can understand someboody not liking a feature of an instrument, especially the non-standard features fpound on many signature guitars. But assuming that signature model or artist replica was dreamt up on a board with no input from the artist themselves is just ridiculous.

Once again Gibson finally brings something to the market that players and collectors alike have been clamoring for, and gets attacked for it.

Re: Got 25K ?

also, we are whiny biotches about guitar pricing.

1) i have a student whose husband is a violinist. he bought a nice but average violin recently in the mid-teens. i asked what like $1500? she said no, $15,000. he also looked at one for $60,000
2) there is NO comparison between regular Gibson guitars and custom shop models.
3) is it worth $25,000? all I know is I can't afford it but that isn't a measure of worth.
