A necessary evil. Two of the bars I play at the most have HORRIBLE grounding and tones of neon/television lights floating around that do horrible things to my single coil pickups (even cause my humbuckers to hum sometimes!) so I picked up a Boss NS-2 for $25 out of pocket (had a $25 credit at the store, and the pedal was only $50 (used of course)) and tried it out at my gig that night. Not an *amazing* pedal, and yes some of my tone was gone (though not nearly as much as I thought and it was still very workable). All in all, I'm pleased with this pedal and the fact that I only need it for two of the bars I play makes it ok.
