Re: got a gig tonight...you choose my gear!

I actually ended up taking the Maz 18, the JH wah, fulldrive, and vibe pedal. I used the vibe pedal like once so mostly it was the fulldrive to be honest. I used the wah on a couple of funkier songs but the fulldrive got the most work. It was a great gig. About 200-250 people on hand and everyone had a dancin good time!

Re: got a gig tonight...you choose my gear!

i went for the super reverd, TS9, fulldrive and deja vibe

Re: got a gig tonight...you choose my gear!

Well I've got a gig tonight, not uncommon as I play this bar at least once a month, many times 2 or 3 times a month and it's where I used to be the assistant manager and I keep a good report with them.

Anyway, that's not the dilemma. It's a blues gig, mostly blues... occasionally an old bluesier rock song thrown in. I'm debating what I want to take with me.

I always take my ES-135 and my SG. I play the ES-135 usually the whole night and keep the Sg as a backup. I also take my ugly japanese made guitar for the slide songs I do. My dilemma is amp and pedals! I usually carry the Super Reverb and my huge pedalboard. For some reason i'm getting the urge to trim it down to maybe three pedals and take the Dr. Z....hmmm, I've been going over it in my mind and can't come to a decision.

So I'm gonna list my gear, and from that list I'll take the stuff that gets voted on the most and see how the gig turns out. I know this seems rather ridiculous but I've played this gig with just a guitar and an amp before and been fine so it'll be fun to see how I get on with other people's choices for my rig :) I'll get "my sound" no matter what you guys pick.

EDIT: I've decided I'm only taking four pedals and one of them is a Boss TU-2 Tuner so you guys get to pick the 3 pedals I'm gonna take with me and the amp I choose. Choose wisely!

Well without knowing how large the place is I decided to go easy. I picked the Dr.Z, TS9, Fulldrive , Teese Wah. A stripped down setup to play blues is the way to go. I usually use my Deluxe Reverb, a CE2, DD3, TS(of some form), Wah. 335 & a Strat.

I have practice tonight & I am bringing a Tele that has new frets, my 335 and my small board.

And this post is no good without pictures of all that gear...

Re: got a gig tonight...you choose my gear!

I voted wah (i picked the teese), fulldrive, dejavibe, and dr z.

You'll probably be able to just engage the fulldrive the whole show and add wah/vibe when color is needed and me personally I go for wah and vibe in the blues/blues rock settings more than delay and tremolo.

this type of rig worked for trower, hendrix, etc so it's good enough for me

Re: got a gig tonight...you choose my gear!

why the hell would you run a pedal all night long? if thats the sound you want, get an amp that does that trick by itself and i know itll feel better and probably sound better too. the simpler the rig, the more magic there is.

A little delay on a few solos is nice. As with any effect, they have much more impact when used sparingly.

umm a lot of guitarists run pedals all night long let's think here robin trower to name one off the bat I don't find anything wrong with his tone do you?

if you play with dynamics and use your volume knob you can still cover a huge array of tones.
