Going to go try it out shortly. After trying the JSX... Having all that silly gain was kinda fun. This was cheaper than another amp lol. I also do not like boost pedals or overdrives. Wanted to goose my 2204 a bit more (It's already modded by Friedman to be similar to the Jake E Lee model).

Report coming shortly.

i ran a 50w jcm800 half stack for years, using a sd-1 as a boost, and it sounded fantastic. i get not wanting to use a pedal, but im not opposed in most cases. my trainwreck express clone is one amp i dont use any pedals with, but its has plenty of gain

Just tried it out. It does what it advertises. Soups it up and retains the character of the amp. Deep switch adds some lows and thump if you like it, or tightens it up.

I don't mind the tone of pedals into an 800... works ok. My main thing is just having to step on the od and flip to the neck pickup at the same time for my clean tone lol. I also feel like a lot of overdrives disconnect me from the amp just a bit when they are on. Hard to explain.

Either way, this does what I wanted. Got it for $250 shipped. Can't complain.

Sounds better playing by myself with it than with the band lol. Kinda prefer it without while playing with the band and loud. Going to run it in the amp and pair it with my Egnater amp in stereo. Thick mid crunch on one side... and the 800's more almost scooped by comparison... but a wicked low end and high end sizzle that cuts. On it's own... dryer and more percussive. Experimenting is fun.
