Hi friend, when you post in a very old thread, everyone else sees it as it is bumped to the top of the forum. lots of times the subject matter is ancient and no one cares about it and the original posting person is no longer even a forum member! If you see an old thread that you looked up, do not post in it.

it is not generally done in a forum. just post a new thread if you do not have your answer to your question after you did your research.
