Got a spare pot in my Strat. Any ideas for it?

My SSS Strat is wired for master volume/master tone.
So I have a spare 250k pot which is disconnected.
I also have a spare 500k push pull pot around.

Any simple, fun mods I should try with those?

I'd recommend you wire the neck pickup to one tone pot, and the bridge to another tone pot. It's not as exciting as some goofball mod you probably won't wind up using, but it does let you get the neck & middle pickups as Stratty as you want without having an icepick bridge.

That's not bad, actually. Down to Earth and usable.
Thanks!

Neck/bridge blender is cool and it allows you to get all 3 pickups on in pos 2 and 4.

I'd love to say I came up with that, but Eric Johnson, Michael Landau, Scott Henderson, Jeff Beck, and a whole slew of others beat me to it :)

Some people put the middle pickup on the tone pot with the neck, but I prefer it without one. The 2 & 4 positions seem a little cluckier that way. I'm even thinking of ditching the neck's tone pot, and just running one on the bridge.

That requires a no-load pot,but it's what I'd recommend if the OP can find one. I have my Strat wired master vol / master tone / blend, and I find 2 tones useless in comparison.

Kent Armstrong blender is amazing... Series, parallel and out of phase from 1 simple mod. Adding to my Joe barden Zion Strat right now.

Yap, it's easy to no load the pot yourself.

I would mod it to the Leo Fender-designed Passive Treble and Bass (PTB) controls, like on the G&L Legacy/S-500/Comanche models. This circuit gives you global tone control over all the pickups, in every switch position. Easy to learn, and once you've mastered it, it's hard to go back to standard Strat wiring.
