super rad stuff

first thing i've recorded in a few months, and with my new valveking^_^ you can hear it clearly, my playing, recording, and mixing skills have all improved a whole crapload, but the writing is still the same haha:smokin:

it's the last one, just cool D major jam or whatever i labeled it. lemme know what you think:)

chains:
both guitars are just the mockingbird on the bridge, which is a stock PG, totally dry (no reverb or delay).
right guitar: clean channel with modded ds-1 and mxr classic overdrive. now that i've listened back to it, i think i mixed it too bright with too much distortion, probably shoulda had more of the classic OD's and less of the ds-1's drive.
left guitar: dirt channel with the gain boost on, gain at about 1/4 boosted with the mxr classic OD.
bass was a monster of two cheap deans that i created into a cube 30 on the session setting using it's record out straight into my toneport.
the pickups for that are a stock dean playmate humbucker in the bridge and a jazz QPb in the neck mixed together.

Re: got another cool little demo up

cool - needs some drums

i kno! don't have my buddies keyboard atm, or a drum kit around;) i actually wrote a drum part to go with the last part though since it was originally the main theme. it's just a little demo version with one of each part though, ya kno? it's supposed to have keys and some solos too, but that's reserved for my two friends that can play keys and solos, respecitvely:)

EDIT: hey GoDrex, if you've got some spare time would you mind adding a drum track to it? i'll send you a high quality mp3 and a lotta luv:naughty:

haha i kno, right? thanks. i actually sold my drum kit to one of my friends because he said he wanted to learn how to play and start a band with me, but now all he wants to do is play video games and he hardly plays at all:28:

Re: got another cool little demo up

My Valveking never sounded that good - I sold it. I guess I should have tried pedals with it..

Good job on the clip.

haha thanks. thing is, when i bought it, it was a used amp outfitted with a whole new set of tubes with EH 12ax7 tubes in the preamp and svetlana 6l6 tubes in the power section. that, and the speaker is more than likely well broken in. compared to stock valvekings, this one has a brighter dirt channel with more mids and isn't as muddy.

Re: got another cool little demo up

anybody else got any feedback? if you think anything needs to be changed(aside from adding drums), like say EQ wise, playing wise, whatever, lemme know what you're thinking.

Re: got another cool little demo up

Starting at 0:22 it almost has a little bit of a Scale The Summit vibe. In my mind I keep wanting to hear a bass line behind it more than drums. Both would be great to hear.

Playing wise, just needs to be tightened up a bit. Guitar tones sounded pretty good on their own. Nice job.

Re: got another cool little demo up

thanks guys. mike, do you not hear the bass very clearly? there's definitely a bass track on there....

btw, i just checked out Scale the Summit. dude, kickass!!!!
