Re: Got drunk and wrote this
Without wishing to appear rude, using MIDI Guitar to trigger complex wind instrument melodies is usually about as convincing to a saxophonist as using keyboards to "play" guitar chords is to us.
The ROMpler instrument sounds are constructed from an attack transient section, followed by a looped sustain section. In order to disguise the loop, synth manufacturers invariably introduce arbitrary vibrato at a fixed speed. Like guitarists, real saxophonists alter their vibrato width, depth and rate almost note by note.
Also, as a long-term Roland owner, it is all too easy to recognise a factory preset straight away. Disbelief fails to be suspended.
