Got my BLACKOUTS Today

Re: Got my BLACKOUTS Today

Yes, very very good. So good in fact that I'll be posting some clips tomorrow to show you all how good the Blackouts sound!

Stay tuned.

Re: Got my BLACKOUTS Today

I can name a few exceptions to this.

David Gilmour
Metallica Live
Zakk Wylde Live
Slayer Live

I think one of the bigger examples is Zakk live. When the man plays and I mean really plays live. He has one of the most woody organic tones I've ever heard.

It's all in the setup, hands, and how things are recorded.

I have several guitars that have Duncans and several that have EMG's... and I have never had a problem with getting a tone that isn't exclusively a high gain sound.. there are times that I can use my vintage Ampeg Reverb-o-rocket or my two channel Triple Rec... it doesn't have the cold tone.. I LOVE my Performance Custom Strat w/ EMG's through my Fender Twin.. and that is no where near a cold tone...

The sound is pretty responsive and I can get a higher level of clarity than what I can get out of my stock American '57 Reissue..

Re: Got my BLACKOUTS Today

The 60A is the best EMG humbucker-period.!And it's the best active after Shadow EQ5!

I've never used the 60A but the regular 60 is my favorite neck pickup.....EVER!!!

It's beefy without sounding boomy...unlike the '59 and most other neck pickups I've tried. It does single coil like sounds well....and sweet humbucker sounds too...it really is amazingly versatile.

+1

If Duncan makes a Blackout with less bass and mids but with more highs similar to the 60, I'll be complete. But I'm super happy right now.

BTW, I posted some clips using the Blackouts on the "I've experienced a Blackout" thread.
