Got my Custom 8-but seems to be regular spaced?

Dudes,

I got my Crazy 8 today! In the EU , so took a long time to get here, but i have it and it sounds great. Placed it in an all mahogany Kramer Nightswan with ebony board. Though I only got to test it at low volumes for a short time now, it sounds good, great likely..nee dto fizzle with string heights and so on but good stuff hiding in it for sure. Only thing that 'worries' me it is most likely a regular spaced one? I am 99% sure it is, did not measure it in mm's yet. But lay it against an 'official' Trembucker Parallel Axis and it does not really line up with the low E and A strings? I checked my order too..says trembucker EU...so..what to do? I can reply to Custom Shop but than I'd be without Crazy 8 another 3 months orso?


For now I'll enjoy it though-at least tomorrow when it is playing time again!

look on the back of the pickup there should be a little white sticker that says:

"SD custom shop
Crazy 8 ___"

where the blank space will say HB for Humbucker spaced, or TB for Trembucker spaced. I at first mistakenly thought I had recieved 2 TB versions, but all was well once I saw that and measured a little better than holding it up to a different pickup.

Thanks Wendell for the tip.

Just by the strings I can tell it is regular spaced, the strings do not align as they did with the PA-2TB that was in it before.

I did order the Trembucker-that does mean automatically F-spaced, right? A neck version would be gibson spaced coils.

Also, my DC counting is : 13,6 , should be closer to 14 if it was F-spaced/trembucker..:scratchch

Hey Remy, Don here.. you let me have a BroBucker off you a while back.... great PUP! Anway, if I were you I would contact SD asap as someone somewhere probably has yours and if they realise will be pi$$ed off too! There's a good chance it's in your part of the world 'coz mine at least were shipped with a bulk consignment to Aria UK, so there may be a chance of getting it sorted quickly? All the best bud. Good thinking of you-however, my pickup was in the box with my name on it?

I should mail Derke than-but I waited so long- I do like to play it! Hmmm

Anyway-I guess mailing Derek is the option than.

Good point bud, they must have just mixed them up at the factory then?

I just had a Crazy fitted to my sons Ibanez along with a Lil'59 in the middle and a DuckBucker in the neck.... wow, this guitar can do nearly anything now.. it only needs to make me play better I guess!!! Lol.

Well a few days ahead and problem solved-CS will take care of my problem -hte regular spaced will be replaced with a Trembucker. Thanks CS!

Soundwise, I like the Crazy 8. I like all of MJ/SD's work, who doesn't but it is a special puppy. I have it in an all mahogany Kramer Nightswan now and also have a 2nd Swan where the standard Full Shred is still in.

Compared. Swan-TS-9/BRSIAB2-JCM800.

Well hard to say-acually Crazy 8 and Full-shred are quite similar, though the FS is browne'/warmer sounding due to the muffled mids. The highs are in similar range but I'd say there's a more clear brightness/spark like strat-tone on the Crazy 8. PLaying the low E, A strings there's some more..dynamics on the crazy 8 and less tightness than the FS has?

All in all-I like it.

Glad I am getting the TB version, sounds might change little, looks improve dramatically!

I wonder what they will do with the returned standard sized Crazy 8? I could use another.
