Got My Little Recording Studio Setup! Need Furthers?

I Like recording from my Digitech GSP 2101 straight into a Tascam 488 MK2 Cassette recorder......I use 2 Event monitors,my Boss 770 Drum machine,My Jazz Bass, and a Korg Triton if I want to totally create an entire tune....I just run everything through my Tascam and into a nice ole Pioneer SX 1010 receiver...Works out great for me!

I Lack a software program that would allow me to record from my 8 tracker cassette recorder onto my PC? I used to use Guitar Tracks(The 2nd version)and I think I still can access the program that turns things into MP3s,WMA,etc...I don't currently have any type of recording program on this computer?..

What should I get so I can record my Tascam onto my computer without breaking the bank? :laugh2:

If I do end up needing the program that converts audio or my analog recorded projects to MP3 etc...is there a program now that does both?

If you're talking about transfering the final mix from the 488--great machine by the way, used to have one--to the computer you can use cakewalk's Pyro. I think it's about $40 or so. There's also Roxio but that's over $100, but what a program, LOL.

Thanks 75LP! Yes,the quality of recording onto really good high bias tapes is something I've enjoyed alot over the years...I don't feel like parting with my 488 and buying something new,so I'd still like to use my 488....It's a real pain in the a$$ to get the recording from my 488 onto the computer, but I did it a few years ago using Guitar Tracks 2....Something like a $40 Pyro software sounds like a plan to me though...Appreciate the 1 and only post on this.

I don't know--seems a bit expensive.

:jester:
It can record audio and convert it to mp3 and ogg, yeah and it's open source. But this doesn't make a program worse...

I never said it makes the program worse, I was just making a joke. See the joker below? Sorry, I thought it was obviously a joke since it is a free download--too expensive....get it.

Nah, just kidding. I wasn't fighting with my forum brotha there! I guess sometimes it's hard to know when someone is being a jerk or just messing around when all you can see is print and can't hear the tone of how the message is coming across. I was joking all the way. This forum has been too good to me to be a jerk.

Re: Got My Little Recording Studio Setup! Need Furthers?

Ya need some kind of soundcard for the computer that has analog inputs & outputs. There's a bunch of Firewire & USB stuff on the market for $250 or less and most of it comes with software & basic plug-ins to get 'ya started. Something like the Presonus box or a small Tascam interface would probably do everything you'd ever want it to and then some.

Yeah! If you've got a firewire port in your PC, that's the best way to go. I think the speed is something like USB=13bps, Firewire=400bps. Not sure about the "bps", but the numbers are close.
