Lew.....I see one these 69 pedals in my future also...I Like the clips on Mike's site, plus I already have the Deja Vibe...I'm right there in Jimi/Trower territory.....

John, They are mind blowingly simple devices. I'll bet you could build one ( or two... ) if someone lent you one. From what I understand, the ticket is getting the right germanium transistors and matching them a certain way. BTW, we're going to see RAY tonight...the wife just called. So I won't be able to touch base with you tonight. Lew

I used to live a couple blocks from Mike Fuller at Fulltone in Venice and have used many of his pedals, including the 69. I wish I'd never sold it, but oh well. I have a T.Rex Mudhoney now, and it's amazing with a wah or alone.
I like the Budda Wah, since it's got a good inductor and pot, but want to upgrade to the Fulltone. I think I will probably get the standard Fulltone Clyde, but it's not a major priority right now. I wish they'd put a volume and tone control on EVERY single pedal.....or at least a volume. Thanks for the input guys! Oh yeah, about the Surfers.....I sold my Ant I Custom to Puckboy, which left my sunburst strat without a bridge pickup. I put a set of Fat 50's back in that strat, and moved the Surfer neck and middle to my "Racecar" strat, along with a trem C-5. What a great strat combo!
C-5/2 Surfers. I wish all the pickup companies would use the same wind/polarity.
Again, I had to flip the leads on the C-5.

Re: Got my old Crybaby, new Vox and Fulltone Clyde back from John...

Had a long talk with John yesterday.

Got all the kinks worked out on the Vox and adjusted the treadle back a few teeth on the Vox so it's not so bright when the pedal is fully depressed. Also tried the Vox with the battery eliminator John installed and discovered that the peaky response I was hearing was due to the new battery not being so new after all! :smack: :duh:

The Vox pedal sounds terrific now. Actually has more actual WAH then my Fulltone, after John's work on it.

Couldn't be happier.

I may sell my old '70 Crybaby. It works beuatifully now that John has worked his magic on it and installed a Fulltone potentiometer and sounds better than it ever did, but John didn't want to mod it much beyond original specs because it is a vintage pedal after all and worth more stock than modded.

So I'll be putting it on Ebay or listing it on the Buy and Sell board here eventually.

But the Fulltone and Vox 847 RI sound superb and those will be keepers for the rest of my days.

The Fulltone is smoother and sweeter and the Vox has more range and a more pronounced wah wah voice.

Love 'em both and it's nice to have two wahs that both sound superb but slightly differant from each other.

Guys: send your pedals to John. The guy has ears of gold!

Re: Got my old Crybaby, new Vox and Fulltone Clyde back from John...

Just put the Crybaby John reworked for me on Ebay if anyone's looking for a really nice old one. This one's over 30 years old and I bought it brand new when my original Vox Clyde McCoy quit working. In those days, no one knew how to fix them!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=3760942953&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

John didn't do alot mod wise with this one as it's worth more stock than modded. But he did do the True Bypass and replaced the pot with a FULLTONE CLYDE Pot and did do a couple of minor tweaks to open up and improve the tone and get it working better than new.

John says the Dunlap Reissues are junk compared to the oldies...I wouldn't know about that. I found a Dunlap in a trash bin a few months ago, fixed it myself and gave it to my buddy AJ for free. Sounded good to me, though not the equal of these John Spina modded Wahs!
