Got my Pearly Gate Bridge.

Now that is one hell of a sweet humbucker!!
Works absolutly great with my old APS-1's in my Kramer.
It is both fat and open.
Heh keep yer highgainers:D:bowdown: :laugh2: PG is defently what I like!

Re: Got my Pearly Gate Bridge.

Got my classic rocksounds, got my old funky fusion tones, got my thing right there....dunno what it is but this pickup is simply great.
Yeah I don't get the thin or "bright" thing either??
What do they all play through??
:DMust be something with no topend..going mooh mooh..hehe

Re: Got my Pearly Gate Bridge.

I guess its those uppermids which makes people think that it is a too bright of a bridge HB. It is a PAF clone for God's sakes, its gotta be bright.

I love how it behaves like an a5 PAF on the non-wound strings, and like a a2 PAF on the wound ones. Sort of a 5/2! ;)

I think it is the best non-custom shop PAF clone there is.

Glad you liked yours.

Re: Got my Pearly Gate Bridge.

Clips please Rid :D

I don't know...I've heard a PG in a couple Paulas and me no like...BUT..I have not heard one in a historic...so that may make the difference.

I DO think if I was gonna put a Duncan (besides the brobucker) in my R8, that'd be my first choice.

I don't care for the high output pups anymore either, really.

EDIT: BTW...some folks say these are uneven winds....some say even..anyone know for SURE?

Re: Got my Pearly Gate Bridge.

I have one clip....but soundclick seems to have one of its usual hiccups;)
Hmm well I have tried the PG+ in a strat, I liked it, did not think it was harsh or bright, just lots of nice bite and a good midrange, but I like it even better with the normal A2 magnet, I have been used to play singlecoils for a very long time as well, so neither the Demon, JB, PG is anything remotely bright to me;)
I have a few hot pickups, I like them, but I love PAF styles better:D
Maybe I am old and it shows:D
hehe
Yeah in a good LP these will probally sound great!
Now I just need to dig up a Seth.

I Like the std PG,but I thought the PG+ was way too toppy...I'm going to go with,(Depends on the right guitar) :laugh2:

The PG+ was in a strat and even with a 250K pot it was too bright.

Now where is that huge Hiwatt???
hehe

Re: Got my Pearly Gate Bridge.

The PG is what got me into Duncans. Years ago, I tryed a strat with the PG+ and also thought it was way too bright. However in my opinion, the A2 PGb isn't too bright, even in a (good) strat. It's a very versatile pickup, usable for shred as well as blues. It's got enough midrange gain and bite for more modern stuff, but it's also got the open clarity of a vintage model. Sometimes I think upper registar clarity is precieved as excessive brightness.

I own a regular PGB and a PG+......I'd just need to pull the A5 and stick an A2 in there and I'm back to another PG.....The Plus is Parchment color which is the reason I've kept it...
