Got The Boss Chorus CE-20

I Love the sounds of the both the CE-1 and CE-2,plus I can do the Dimension D tones with this pedal..Lots of bells and whistles, but I'm good with kind of thing anyway and I'll read through the maunal a few times!

I Like knowing that I can setup a few cool presets and than access them on the fly once they are dialed in....

Should be a cool chorus pedal...Just got back from getting it...

Cool deal John!

I was able to et some great sounds out of the one I tried but it was just too much for me. Good luck with it and keep us posted!

Re: Got The Boss Chorus CE-20

I would love to sit down with somebody who really knows how to use a chorus pedal and have them clue me in. I use a little bit on all my MP-1's clean settings, but I have a feeling I'm really missing out on something cool.

Re: Got The Boss Chorus CE-20

A chorus pedal is an easy thing to overuse, like a wah pedal. In the 80s everyone from Rush to hair metal bands were using them on everything from cleans to searing distortion. As I got older I started to like the sound of the guitar without chorus more when using overdrive and distortion. Used right (and boy, I'm no expert, lol) a chorus can REALLY fatten up vocals and guitars without sounding "chorused". Rush's Hemispheres to me is a great example of how to use chorus on distorted guitars and have it sound like it belongs. That's the first album they used chorus on I believe. The previous album was A Farewell To Kings which has a much different sound without the chorusing.

Oh GREAT! Thanks. What a pal. Now I'm gonna have to buy this and sleep on the couch again for a few nights. :smokin:

Re: Got The Boss Chorus CE-20

This pedal sounds great guys...Very quiet also....I Like the different chorus tones available from this thing and I have them setup so they add nice tone, but not total chorus overkill, which I agree is easy to do with this effect!

If you just wanted to use the pedal like any other pedal and no presets, you just plug in and the pedal defaults to "manual" mode..You then just turn the knobs and mode switch etc..just like with any other pedal...

The treadle on the left turns the effect on and off...The treadle on the right allows you to select presets 1-4 or manual mode...

You have 4 spots where you can store different presets....It's too easy...You manually setup a chorus sound, click the "write" button, select either LED 1,2,3,or 4 and click "write" again...Your preset is now stored in that number you selected...Too easy....

I've dialed in a nice Dimension D tone,a CE1 tone, and another more modern and lush sounding chorus on numbers 1,2,and 3.....4 I was able to make into a cool room sounding reverb type tone if I need a touch of reverb through my Marshall for clean chordings...

Nice pedal...very easy to use,has great chorus tones, and I got the hang of it pretty quick...Hard to go wrong with the Boss stuff..

I Only use chorus to help fill out nice clean chorded things...

Thanks to my buddy Christian here on the forums for recommending the CE-2,and the Ibanez CS-9 as these were both big considerations...I Lost bid on a CE-2 but it bothered me that it only had a rate and depth knob....I Like the flexibility and the adjustments on the CE-20 and the 4 presets are way cool...

I can have the nice tones of the CE-1 and the Dimension D out of 1 cool chorus pedal and that's a plus!

I don't use chorus at all for overdriven or gained up guitar stuff,as it muddys things up....I Only use chorus for clean stuff where there's alot of overall space in the song...One of the tunes we do where I really like chorus is "Ain't Even Done With The Night" by Mellencamp, especially for the chording intro...We also do "Scarecrow" which is another clean chorded song and chorus works good in that one also, plus several other tunes we do....I just like the way chorus fills and thickens things out and adds that sense of dimension and beauty to clean stuff...Great effect for that.

Thanks again for the suggestions! I would have never even known about the CE-20 if it weren't for you telling me first about the CE-2...From there I went into my Boss catalogs and happened upon the CE-20 after also listening to several chorus clips on "Tone Frenzy" and on different sites where they had audio samples...I am familiar with the CE-1 though..

Re: Got The Boss Chorus CE-20

I had one. It was a great pedal, but it had too many knobs for me so I never felt fully comfortable with it. If you like it, you really need to try it in stereo with a wide speaker spacing.....that's where stuff like the CE-1 and DimensionD models really shine.

I Know I'd love to hear the pedal in stereo....Then we're talking 2 amps! :smack: Basically I just wanted a great chorus pedal to run through my Marshall...Like always,I went total overkill on the pedal, but I do like the different tones it offers.

I'd like to Lew,but I don't have 2 small amps I can carry with me to a gig these days....I used to have 2 Pro Juinors that I'd run in stereo and I Loved it...Now I Just have the one PJ and then 40 watt and higher combo amps and heads...

My VTX Vox head I do run into a stereo 2x12 or 4x12 cab and the head itself is stereo..

Looks great, the soundclips and the one time I have heard it live was a very good sound ...it has no tb though;)
Boss pretty much wrote the book on good chorus.
