grab n go rigs, nothing special, sound great anyway - got one?

Re: grab n go rigs, nothing special, sound great anyway - got one?

Mine is modded by Omega. I generally agree with "if you have to mod it" but since it's really just a backup rig, cost weighs more heavily for me than maximizing quality. It was never meant to be my #1 amp so I'm less concerned about having a great amp than a good amp that didn't set me back too much.

does the omega mod give it dirt?? Or do you play clean most of the time? Or am I just a nut?? (dont answer that...) I havent played many fender amps, but the supersonic is the only one Ive ever been excited by the gain of. I know I like more dirt than alot of guys do..

In answer to the OP. For a jam, Id take my PV classic 30 and Raptor pedal. A small gig or very fun jam, would go with tweaker and avatar 2x12.

Guitar for either is TBD.. Prolly Charvel pro mod

Roland Cube 60 I had for a while would have been just freakin fine for a lot of places

I like the Cube bass amp a lot, too

Omega revoices the drive channel and makes it more touch-sensitive. Gives it something of an old-school Boogie vibe. Def not crushing distortion but singing sustaining overdrive.

Seymour Duncan 84-40 1x12 combo, nice little 40w i got of ebay for around 250 with shipping. Run a GFS twin overdrive and a Boss BD-2 Bluesdriver, work for me since i live in the barracks. its still loud as hell but oh well it sounds good. im gonna get a weber blue dog ceramic with a hemp cone to smooth out the highs a bit since i run the treb around 4 now.

Re: grab n go rigs, nothing special, sound great anyway - got one?

For jazz gigs or solo i just use the 175 into a princeton reverb.
For gigs with a band i use the 335 into the princeton and add a fulldrive.
I do carry an instrument mic and a small stand too, but my rig is always only one trip from the car. That includes a guitar stool too.

ahem....except right now my princeton is broken! lol....so i gotta lug a fender twin instead!....makes the one trip from the car a bit of an ordeal! but at least it has casters.

my typical rig is grab and go. two guitars, shoulder bag with cables picks slide timmy etc... and my old deluxe reverb. if i cant do it in one trip i have too much crap.

re: the arrowed, I tried. Do ya think one trip can be done for rock/metal ? And I don't see how you carry the 2 guitars

Re: grab n go rigs, nothing special, sound great anyway - got one?

Tonight, the band is playing a place where space is at a premium, and there's no need to use my bigger amps as it's a small room, and we'll have someone doing sound. I'm bringing a friend's Vibro Champ XD and throwing a mic on it. I'll have my guitars, and a compressor pedal for more sustaaaiiiiinnn.

Sounds like this:

I'm playing the Tele.

both guitars are in gig bags. one on each shoulder, amp in one hand, bag over the shoulder as well leaving me with a free hand to get the doors. ive done the marshall halfstack/twin dual amp with massive pedal board setup and im over it.

one trip with metal can be done as long as you can live with a big 2x12 cab. i have a dual showman reverb, obviously not a metal head but same size/weight, vibroking 2x12. ive used that rig and carried everything in one trip.

71 Univox U1246B head into Earcandy Buzzbomb 4X12, Vox Tonelab LE.

actually I think I accomplished 1-trip for metal. Well, I'd have needed a gig bag, and a few sundries ....

But an open-back 112 with a 103 db Swamp Thang and my little Tube Screamer Amp competed EASILY with my 5150 into my Bogner Uberkab. I was amazed. Metalheads may scoff; fudge em. But I could carry that no problem, almost no effort!

Grab and go?
Zinky 25 watt Blue Velvet combo
SKB small powered pedal board with a George Dennis wah,Eden Analog Cold Compress compressor, Rocktron Deep Blue Chorus and a Boss DD7.
Add a Mid 90's USA Washburn MG or "pointy" Carvin and rock at will.

Re: grab n go rigs, nothing special, sound great anyway - got one?

My Marshall JCM800 4210 1x12 50 watt combo. Two channels, modified with a footswitchable dual master volume.

Small enough to play the smallest clubs, powerful enough to play an outdoor gig.

Re: grab n go rigs, nothing special, sound great anyway - got one?

A twin reverb is less than half the size of a halfstack and is louder than many of em, and has a tone you can hear on albums in most every genre. That's pretty grab and go IMO. You can also pick up a used RI for less than the price of a new tiny terror

My primary amp is a TRRI and you are correct. If you've got to have that sound in spades there's nothing like it. Problem is I'm no kid anymore. I'm still willing to grab but my Twin doesn't seem as willing to go as It used to be. So most of my playing time these days is spent on my SCXD with 12" Eminence C-Rex extension cab.

Sg > Carbon copy > Blues Jr w/ celestion g12h30. I can use the fat switch for the amp for extra umph.

Re: grab n go rigs, nothing special, sound great anyway - got one?

My grab-n-go rig is an SG Classic into a Pro Junior. I bring my Bad Monkey along because sometimes I need it and other times I don't.

Re: grab n go rigs, nothing special, sound great anyway - got one?

Got one of these, it's awesome! Need a 1x12 of some sort to go with it.....
