Graph Tech FerraGlide saddles

Re: Graph Tech FerraGlide saddles

I have a set on my old Squier. I wasn't looking for this, but they seemed to brighten the tone up a bit. Along with the graphite nut these saddles keep the tuning perfect after bends and vibrato work. I like these things.

Did they brighten the tone substantially or was it subtle? I'm not really looking to alter the eq of my guitar as I feel it's bright enough.

Re: Graph Tech FerraGlide saddles

I used to have Fender stamped saddles on that guitar, and I was surprised how much the GraphTechs boosted treble response. I like the old Fender saddles I had because they were bright, but the GraphTechs added even more sting. I like the change.

Shortly before I replaced those saddles, I chenged the pickups out for Duncan squished humbuckers. With their ceramic magnets and strong treble and upper midrange frequencies, these brightened up the guitar substantially. But I did notice that the new saddles added even more of those high frequencies.

The change ended up being pretty dramatic on my guitar. I wasn't necessarily looking for that, but I like it.

Re: Graph Tech FerraGlide saddles

Has anyone tried these? Opinions - tone, string life, tuning stability etc...

I have a set on one of my Strats. They work great. I built this Strat from an Anderson body & had the neck made by Musiccraft. I built it about 2 years ago. I have never broken a string on this guitar. They work perfectly. I also have the regular graphite saddles on many other guitars I own. Both my Les Pauls, my SG, my 335 as well as a few Strats & Teles. I have always felt that they do the job as they are supposed to.
I would recommend them if you are having a string breakage issue. If not I would leave the guitar alone. I changed mine out on all the guitars because I was breaking strings. Now I don't.
