Graphtech compatibility

Hey guys,

I have a Yamaha Pacifica 312 ii... and I'm looking to install a Graphtech Tremnut and Stringsaver saddles.

However,

1) There's not nut sizes which match the dimensions of my nut. My nut width is 40 mm, the closest specified is like 41 - 43 mm.

They've got a blank slab - can that be used to make a nut with?

2) The saddles they offer have a width of 10.4 mm... mine are 10 mm. It looks as if, needing 6 saddles, it wouldn't fit properly. Is there anything else I can do?

Re: Graphtech compatibility

You'll need to buyt the blank and make your own nut, unfortunately. The saddles should fit, but there will be gaps between them.

Re: Graphtech compatibility

I heard something mentioned on the site about gaps because of the size difference... I thought that was because the saddles were too narrow, instead of being too wide! I guess with 6 saddles, it would only work out 2.4mm bigger than what it is now, which would create tiny gaps.

My mistake, I read that yours are 10.4 and the GT's are 10mm. After reading it properly, I'd say that they won't fit. What bridge design do you have? I ask because supposedly PRS saddles are narrower than Fender style saddles (both of which Graph Tech manufactures replacements for).

Sorry about the picture size - bit big :p

The PRS Saddles are the same width... that site is awfully confusing.

Re: Graphtech compatibility

Graphtech saddles come with the bolt down the center for vintage trems, like yours, or offset bolts for Am. Std Strat bridges. I don't think you'll have any issue with buying stringsavers for your Yamaha. Also, Carvin distributes the vintage style Graphtechs, so you may be able to get them cheaper from them and they ship worldwide with no issues.

Re: Graphtech compatibility

Also, if you email graphtech, they'll respond within a couple of days. They can tell you what models will work with your guitar.
