Are there any Techs out there that have any experience with the Graph Tech Ghost System?

I have been in contact with the company and they have been very helpful, yet the system is not working correctly.

I am willing to ship the guitar to you if you can work on it.

Re: Graphtech Ghost System

Do you have any photographs of the electronics in your guitar?

Re: Graphtech Ghost System

I installed that system a while ago, it was a bit of a pain to install. First time round I wired the stereo jack all wrong, something I would check If I was you. In what way is it not working correctly? No sound at all or buzzing etc?

Re: Graphtech Ghost System

There are three issues.

First is, it is eating through batteries in around two hours even when not plugged in.

Second, it has a constant Shhhhh (like white noise) that occurs while using both the Piezo and Magnetic pick-ups. I never had this problem with the Magnetic pick-ups before.

I figured these issues were due to a ground/shielding problem. I shielded the pick guard and used conductive paint to shield the entire control/pickup/preamp/battery cavity. (I checked with a multi-meter all the cavity shielding is connected.) I have wrapped the preamp in electrical tape to insulate it from the shielding paint.

Third: When I activate/deactivate any of my stompboxes (Wampler/Mesa), there is a very loud pop. That doesn't happen with any other of my guitars.

Re: Graphtech Ghost System

Its a heap of wires to play with. I retrofitted a setup into a ibanez sabre.

Heres some pics maybe it will help haha

Re: Graphtech Ghost System

I wish i could help you with it. Not really sure why it would be eating batteries but i bet all the problems are related.

What are graphtech saying? They are a great company so i am sure they will help.

That sabre isnt mine but i do have plans of my own to make a nylon string electric with piezo. I have the acoustic phonic board here i just need saddles.

Re: Graphtech Ghost System

Kramersteen - yea, Australia is a little far to ship.

Graphtech has been great. We have exchanged several emails and they even replaced the preamp. But it didn't fix the problem. I'm sure the issue is in the wiring. I have a very small space to work with and followed the instructions, but it still isn't right.

I thought about making some space by routing a slot on the side of the control cavity for the cables. I know the shielding is not the issue.

I am willing to ship it to a tech to get it running.

I wouldn't know how to fix it anyway. Silly question but have you tried unplugging it all and plugging it back in? maybe blow out the connectors and inspect everything. Make sure all your solder joins are good. Its normally something obvious with wiring.

By preamp you mean the acousticphonic pcb board?

Re: Graphtech Ghost System

There is a Waynesville. It is outside of a military base in Missouri.

Yes, they replaced the PCB Board. I already tried the unplug/re plug trick.

Re: Graphtech Ghost System

batteries die quick
hisses

sounds like something is miswired

is there a pdf of the wiring you could look at and check each point

the jack should make contact to power the battery
but yours is wired always hot

did you eliminate some function?
you have a push-pull pictured with no wiring on it

Re: Graphtech Ghost System

I plan on a complete disassemble and redo.

The Pushpull has no function at this time. It was just the only Pot I had available.
