I know that Billie Joe plays Gibson Les Pauls but what model exactly is he playing in the music video "American Idiot"? Just curious, anyone know?

Seriously though, I've never been able to tell LP models apart. I can spot Fender variations at 200 paces, but couldn't tell you the difference between a Studio and a Classic, much less how they might vary from year to year. I do know that he was favoring P90s on most of that record, though from what small stills I can find on Google's image search, the guitar in the video looks to have humbuckers. So what you see might not be what you're seeing.

During Warning, Billie Joe got addicted to P90s and that shows on the new album. I love his tone on the new album.

if i remember the video right...it's an lp jr.
i need to get that cd...from what i've been hearing/heard, it's pretty good stuff...the other guitarists just seems to fill out their sound really well...just what the dr. ordered if you ask me, which you didn't, but there...i told ya anyways! :dance:

saw them live on tuesday, i'll try and list all the guitars used :burnout:
sunburst LP junior
black LP junior
red 335 (the session guy)
a *real* old (id say 60's, or a reliced reissue) sunburst strat
his JB-loaded strat from the first few albums, which blew all the others away for tone, you could really hear the change when he played the earlier tracks on it
and a black strat, which he gave to an audience member during the 'form a band' thing
