Ground Control Audio - Blood Oath (Low/Mid Gain Overdrive)

I’m always on the lookout for a nice, low gain overdrive and I think I found a top contender… The Blood Oath from Ground Control Audio. It comes in either a germanium or silicon version. I got the germanium version because I’m a sucker for really low gain overdrive. The silicon version is really similar but it definitely has more gain and a little more compression. What about you guys? Got any low/mid gain overdrives that you’re in love with? Another favorite of mine is the Honey Bee. Anyways, hope you like the video

I love my timmy. Is as transparent an overdrive as I've found, feels good and sounds great

That pedal looks cool!

My low gain boost/overdrive/tone press of choice is a combination of two pedals: the JColoccia Horus (now discontinued) and the Bogner Harlow. Combined, they create a mid-focused light OD with a lot of sustain.

The jangly guitars in the first couple of minutes of this song use that combination; guitar used is a Tele Thinline.



I am not really a fan of 'transparent' overdrive pedals, I am usually looking to colour the tone is some fashion. Of course, speaker choice, amplifier topology, and microphone/preamp choice all play a part, too.
