i have a pickup coming in at end of week, and all that's been in the eclipse is actives it's whole life. Assuming it's not grounded, how would one ground it to bridge? Think maybe there's a pre-drilled hole that goes to the bridge post? i mean i guess ill find out, but im sure someone up in here has gone from active to passive with a TOM. tankz.

Re: Grounding an Eclipse-II

If your bridge has a ground wire, it will leave the control cavity roughly half way along the longest edge.

Re: Grounding an Eclipse-II

İf it doesnt have ground wire and hole , find a long screw that will reach to the bridge mounting studs when screwed from electronics cavity .When it touchs the studs you can ground your pickup to the screw head.I heard this at a forum , havent tried it though.

Re: Grounding an Eclipse-II

My LTD EC 1000 did not have a ground wire. Or a hole through which to put one. I had to drill the hole myself.

Re: Grounding an Eclipse-II

My cheap 'n' nasty LTD EC-401w did come with a bridge ground wire - even though the stock wiring was EMG-81/-60 pickups and 25k pots.

I popped it open, it does have an existing ground wire, the controls are the original ones, weird cuz I thought EMG's didn't need to be grounded. Oh well, saved me some headache.

I'm pretty sure Frank Falbo said that they can be grounded, it's just not 100% necessary. You got lucky dude, I had to have my dad drill a hole from the control cavity to the bridge on my torero, it made me nervous to say the least.

Yeah I guess they do that at the factory just in case. I'd be nervous too if I had to drill thru my stuff as well. I'm excited to say the least. Did you get that matte black se yet?
