grounding?

HELP - I built a tele parts guitar, everything perfect sounds great, but when I'm not touching the strings I get a amp hum. Pick Ups are Vintage Stack Noiseless, all wired according to the manual. So whats the proper, cleanest way to fix this? I'm a ukulele builder, not a guitar tech.

Re: grounding?

As far as I know there is no wire to the bride itself, figured pick up screws in the bridge do that?

Re: grounding?

Well... If the pickup screws are metallically connected to the pickup grounding wire then it shoud be ok.
If you have a spare piece of wire you may try to connect it to the bridge. Either by wraping it around saddle screw or something. If the buzzing stop, you will have to route one wire from the bridge to the electronics ground.

It was nicely done in this thread ->https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?178446-how-to-i-install-a-ground-wire-from-the-bridge-of-a-tele-to-the-pot&p=2327021&viewfull=1#post2327021

Also this solution looks ok to me:

Re: grounding?

I think I will solder a wire to the bottom plate of the pick up and run that to a common ground, seems like it will work?

Re: grounding?

If the humming stops when you touch the strings then it sounds like they are grounded. Touching the grounded strings grounds you and prevents your noise from getting into the guitar. I would say that it is a shielding issue but your picture shows shielding paint in the cavities. Have you checked all your points for continuity with the ground at the jack?

Also, how loud a hum are we talking about? Even with everything grounded and shielded you are still using single coil pickups and they will make some noise.

That's not going to help with the problem you are having. The bridge needs to be grounded.

The easiest way to correct it is to solder one end of a wire to the back of your vol pot, run the wire to the bridge pup cavity, then strip about an inch or so of the insulation from the end of the wire and place it under the bridge plate. When the bridge plate is screwed down it will make the electrical connection to the ground (back of vol pot and to the sleeve connection of the output jack which will ground it to the amp's ground as well).
