First time user of these particular tuners and i must say i am impressed! Very well made, smooth action and keep tune excellent. Anyone else in here impressed/use these tuners?
I love Grover Rotomatic tuners and had to replace one on my '1989 BC Rich. Unfortunately, I didn't know the minor difference between the Rotomatic mini and the Rotomatic mid-size tuner at the time.
The mini has a 14:1 gear ratio, the mid-size has an 18:1 gear ratio. So, 5 of my tuners on that guitar are currently 18:1, with the last being a 14:1 mini. The mini feels fairly rough next to the mid-size.
The 18:1 gear ratio Rotomatics are my absolute favorite tuners. They are so much smoother!
Also, Grover fulfills their lifetime warranty. Since my one tuner had stripped out over two decades of use, I contacted Grover and asked for a replacement, which they sent! I only wish I had realized that I had needed the mid-size instead of the mini. I was pretty impressed that the company actually lives up to their workmanship!
I have the minis on 18:1 with locking, they're great in every posible way feel, stability, accuracy, etc. I still don't understand how people like those 12:1 sperzels
I have a set on my '74 Tele Custom, I installed them in about 1983, although I have a vague memory that I'd had them on a Strat before then.
More recently I put a set of Grovers on a LP. They certainly aren't the quality product they were in the '70s, I was disappointed to discover this. The only tuners from the old days that are still made well are Schallers, unfortunately.
Anyone know if the buttons for full-sized Grovers are compatible with the minis, and vice versa? I'd like to put some keystones made for the full-sized tuners on a set of mini Grovers that I have. I also think the full-sized one would look much better with the buttons from the minis.
