No matter what I do, I cannot get squeals outta these EMG's at all, and if I switch over to my OLP, out they come. What's the deal? When I do it, no matter how high the gain, trying kills the sustain but it's kinda supposed to a lil. So what's the deal? Idea's? Or am I simply outta shape with doin em and need to actually start practicing them again? I'm so close to rippin em out and putting a Tone Zone in that schecter. Thanks for the help.

Re: Grr I'm close to ridding myself of EMG's, help me!

I didnt think EMG's did "squeals" all that well either! JB is right, Invader = stupid easy squeals and so does the Full Shred IMO!

Re: Grr I'm close to ridding myself of EMG's, help me!

Hmm. I don't have much of a problem with EMG's and squeals when I play guitars with them, if what you're talking about is pinch harmonics.

Re: Grr I'm close to ridding myself of EMG's, help me!

I hated the JB I had in my lp though n some other SD's I've tried. I like that modern compressed sound and a very clear distortion. Hence why I like the TZ. The body is basswood, does that have anything to do with it? Although it shouldn't, my OLP is basswood as well.

Re: Grr I'm close to ridding myself of EMG's, help me!

Never had a prob getting pinch harmonics outta of EMGs either...JB is easy too as said...

try a set of 59s, LOL...those are tough...I have a devil of a time with my Hamer...BurstBuckers are much easier...

Let me ask you this though...are the scale lengths on the guitars different? strat scale is easier to get pinch harmonics out of than a gibson scale, IME.

Never EVER had a problem out of mine. Practice your technique.

Re: Grr I'm close to ridding myself of EMG's, help me!

Jeff's tha man, so I'm takin his word n just plain ol practicing more, cuz I used to be Zakk crazy with em n stopped for a LONG time.

Honestly, the 707's are just so damn beastly, it's hard NOT to get exactly what I want out of them.

I'm going to stick them in my 6 string, once and for all!

Re: Grr I'm close to ridding myself of EMG's, help me!

Sometimes if your actions too low pinch harmonics will be harder.

Re: Grr I'm close to ridding myself of EMG's, help me!

It's you, the Damien comes with EMG HZ4s or whatever and I have the HZ2s or something like that, I just crank the gain and pinch harmonics are like pie.

Very, very true. I keep my action a touch higher than factory.

Me neither... I can get my pinch harmonics/squeals to come out very easily. I think it might just be a technique thing, or the fact that the guitars are designed differently: I know my guitar well enough that I've memorized the spots where the "pinch nodes" are, and I have no trouble finding them. But when I tried out a Jackson RR-1 and ESP LTD EC-400, the "pinch nodes" weren't there, they were in slightly different locations.

I bet if you move your pick hand along the string a little more in either direction on your Schecter, you should be able to find the nodes and fix your problem. Then from there I guess it's just about practice. Good luck.

Can you do that?? I thought they were too long for a 6er?

Re: Grr I'm close to ridding myself of EMG's, help me!

if you practice and get the proper technique, you'll be able to hear pinches without an amp.

Pinching is relatively easy with my strat (Ant II surfers) clean with my deluxe reverb, and really easy with my TS9 at 12 o clock on the drive.

yeah it really probalby is the technique. i can get them on an acoustic, and sometimes on my ukelele. just keep trying different positions, and even with different places on ur thumb, or whatever you do it with.

Agreed- I can get em on my acoustic! It's how I hold and use the pick.

Re: Grr I'm close to ridding myself of EMG's, help me!

I have no problems getting pinch harmonics out of my strat with the Dave Gilmour set, dirty or squeaky clean.

im sure you could just do some additional routing

Re: Grr I'm close to ridding myself of EMG's, help me!

Hey do you guys ever do the ones where you pick it normally and then hit it quickly with your middle finger?

I always do those when its on the low e... and then normally on the higher strings

That is still a pinch right?
