guardplate options

Re: guardplate options

How bout a cream/black/cream p/g with a set of SD Texas Hot Antiquities (aged covers would be awesome)

Re: guardplate options

Aye! Another beautiful left handed strat that's going to get tortured for the Hendrix treatment.:grumble:

Personally I would go with a, B/W/B, Black pearl, White or Vintage Pearl, all with black pickups.

All good calls, and how do you know that I am not a lefty?

Because alot of the guitars in you sig. weren't made in the lefty format!

Good call! I have been on a huge Aerosmith/Joe Perry kick lately...I have always like the idea of the tremolo being upsidedown, I have the bridge pickup on my JV Strat reverse slanted, and reverse Fender headstocks look cool as hell...plus it was a reason to grab another guitar! It's so Joe Perry circa late 70's...now if I could just get those damn L-220's from Bill Lawrence!

If you're going to make it a Perrycaster, you need to swap necks to Tele. And yes those Dam L-220s would be very helpful!

My order for a set is going next week

True...not all of Joe's strats have Tele necks on them, but it is an idea!

Are they taking orders for the 220's yet?!?

Re: guardplate options

I'm hoping so! I'm getting really impatient!

you have a PM on the way, some new info just popped up!

Re: guardplate options

leave it as is, it's a classic guitar that deserves to stay stock.

How much did you get it for? That's really badass! a 67 strat...wow. You think you can throw down some sound samples through your twin when you get it?

Re: guardplate options

Thanks guys...it is a MIJ reissue NOT a real 67, actually it is a MIJ limited edition 1968 reissue, it was only offered for 6 months in 1989, I excited! I got it for the opening bid of $399.00 plus shipping!!! I have not gotten the guitar yet, but I am pretty sure that the stock pickups are not so great, so it will more that likely be getting new pickups, and I want it to look a little different so a new guardplate is in order as well...right now Im kind of leaning toward either Tortoise or Black.

Re: guardplate options

If it were mine, I'd install a Twangbanger and 2 Surfers, then I'd use a scouring pad to dul the glossy pickguard, and soak it in my 'nicotine formula'.......coffee, tea, and a spoonful of yellow curry powder in a pot of water. If it gets too yellow, wipe it with a cloth soaked in bleach to achieve the right shade.

Honestly, the guard looks appropriate on that guitar, but if you reliced it, it would look even better. Plus, you'll save $35.

If I can't get a set of the Lawrence L-220's to try I was thinking about a pair of SSL-1's and a Twangbanger. I know that, that guardplate looks "right" but I was thinking that a dark colour (like black or Tortoise) would look cool too, I am also leaning towards a green...either green crushed pearl or green mirrored
