Guess who I ran into today?

A guy came in to work today looking for some guitar parts, and we spent about 15 minutes looking at parts and talking shop. He mentioned that he was restoring a Les Paul-type guitar and needed a bridge humbucker. He said he was interested in the '59 model, and based on the sound he wanted I showed him a '59 and suggested the Pearly Gates as well. He wound up getting the Pearly Gates.

All told, he bought about $150 worth of parts total. Then he handed me his Credit Card and ID. I blinked when i saw the name. I asked him if he really was who his ID said he was. He said yes, then showed me his other ID card.

See the highlighted entry on the lower right of the page.

Just goes to show, you never know who's gonna walk through the door.

As I was ringing him up, I thought to myself, "Wait a minute, what is one of Fender's top guys doing asking some random GC employee for pickup advice?" He must have read my mind, as he said, "Thanks for the advice on the Duncans, you'd think I'd know more about these things, right?" and just gave a smile.

I shook his hand, said it was nice to meet him, wished him a Happy New Year, and that was that.

:D

Re: Guess who I ran into today?

Sounds like someone is getting promoted from GC sales to Fender custom shop. Glad your informal interview went well.

Re: Guess who I ran into today?

I would not even know who he was if he walked up to me and told me works at Fender. (until now)

Re: Guess who I ran into today?

You wouldn't believe who regularly walks into the Atlanta GC.

Re: Guess who I ran into today?

I'm also asking because the link doesn't work for me.

Me neither, but congrats! That's awesome. I've never run into anybody notable. My wife said we saw Kobe Bryant at Disneyland, but I wouldn't know him from Jesus unless somebody pointed him out.

Re: Guess who I ran into today?

You ARE old if you can remember George Blanda. He was a quarterback before he was a kicker with the Raiders. I remember many "trick" plays where they would fake a kick and he would pass for a touchdown or long yardage.

Yeh, those were the days of Daryle Lamonica, Ken Stabler, Freddie Biletnikoff, Pete Banaszak, Hewritt Dixon, big Ben Davidson, and Jim Otto, and of course John Madden. Man I loved the Raiders.

Then I'm old. 1949 - 1975, last game was AFC '75 (Jan 76) if my memory of trivia serves correctly. :D. I've noticed many place kickers (Morten Andersen, Gary Anderson, Blanda) have VERY long careers. Why is that so?

I still have no idea what any of you are talking about.
