Guess Who...

$2040!? Thats a fricken steal on a IIC+, esp. on one with simil-class and the EQ

A steal?? Maybe it's just my imagination but I could swear I've seen a IIC+ in both combo and head forms with everything and those two features for under $1000. I thought Simul-Class and EQ were part of what made the IIC+ a IIC+

Re: Guess Who...

I'm not sure that has simul-class in it. My Mk II c+ has different lettering on the front toggle. Yours says full power -1/2 power, mine says Simul-class-class A. Now mine doesn't have EQ so the face plates may have been done differently or yours may have been modded post.

Thanks Rob. :)

Al, the later production wide head versions of the IIC+ sported the Simulclass/Class A switch on the front in the form of FULL PWR/HALF PWR...don't ask me why...

As you can see, there is the Simulclass sticker on the back of the amplifier and on the right side, where you would usually see the Simulclass/Class A toggle, you see nothing...as it was moved to the front along with the reverb.

BTW - Beautiful amp! Love the hardwood cabinet and the clean wicker. :13:

Re: Guess Who...

Looks nice! 2040$ a bargain? How much did they go for originally? Are they some sort of "special limited edition" or something else? I'm not so well versed on Mesas.

Btw, me actually being an ignoramus on an other front as well, is that the version of mesas that Metallica used on about all their albums?

The Black Albums final production was tracked with this and an ADA MP-1 slaved into a Mesa poweramp ;).

Origionally, I believe they sold for under a grand (keep in mind that this is 1983/4), but nowadays the demand is so high for these rare items (I can't tell you exactly how many were made, but I'm sure someone could), that they command prices much higher than that of the orgional. I've seen these sell for upwards of $3000 or so.

Not a LE amp and Boogie does not reissue this one.

Re: Guess Who...

THAT SO TOTALLY FREAKING ROCKS BRO!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Re: Guess Who...

I'm also curious, why do some amps only have like 3 preamp tubes whereas the others would have like 4 or 5, and another for the reverb?

Re: Guess Who...

Rereading some posts has let me know that I've overlooked some questions and concerns...

Metallica used the IIC+ on MOP, AJFA, and MET.

Thanks Hoss! :) I hope you get what you want soon, as well!

Two 6L6s on the inside and two EL34s on the outside.

Fretburner, I'm not exactly sure how to answer, because I'm not 100% aware of all of the reasons...but I do know that some amps use 12AX7s for features that others amps may not support, like an FX loop.

I'm sure a real tube expert could really give you some info. :)

if it sounds like the tone on the metallica black album, that is sweet ! but thats a lot of cash, i rather get a bogner ubershall!

Yeah, but we know Rombola is super picky with his amps.

Re: Guess Who...

Ok, it does seem to be a super sweet amp! I wouldn't mind having one myself someday... or at least something by Mesa. It's just such a shame that they get a mysterious 100% price increase when they cross the pond. I'll just have to keep my eyes on the used market when I get enough dough. So far the Diezel will have to do.

Re: Guess Who...

Well, that is a nice amp. I have a couple of Mark IIIs, a Maverick 212, a DC-3 combo, and a Mark IV and I love them. Can't afford a IIC+ these days, but I would love to have one. Take good care of it, it will only grow in value--and you'll have a lot fo fun playing it over the years.
