Guild making Brian May's guitar?

I never thought that Brian May's Red Special guitar was being produced by Guild. I would love to have that guitar. It is probably way to expensive. It supposedly has a built in distortion unit.

Re: Guild making Brian May's guitar?

WAS being produced by guild. It's made by burns now.

In the uhh... 80s and 90s I think it was made by Guild. Not quite accurately, but it did have the switches :)

Re: Guild making Brian May's guitar?

It was made twice by Guild, once in the early 80's, and later in the late 80's. The early 80's ones were not accurate, they had Kahler tremolos. The later ones were better, and Burns, except for the tremolo, is supposed to be the best

WAS made by Burns :fingersx:
Although apparently still pretty much the same guitar, they don't bear the Burns logo anymore. They're just sold under the 'Brian May' brand (more info here).

More on the Guild here.

By the way, there have been many, many commercial copies of the Red Special in the past. Here's a nice listing of some.
And this one is often considered the ultimate: the Guyton Red Special.
