Guitar Build Project....

Anybody know of a good shape that goes good with a Bolt-On Neck? Because I'm gonna buy a Warmoth neck for the guitar and it's only Bolt- On.... I was going to build a V.. But after hearing all negative things from guitarists of many years about bolt-on V's, I decided I'm going to build a different shape.. But I have no idea what shape.....

Re: Guitar Build Project....

whatever your heart desires. cliche alert! anyway you should probably find the one you like the most from playing different guitars. every size body has different resonance qualities. but don't let that hold you back if say you want a J-master (:D) over a LP (:() then that's cool. take the j-master. the more mass the more resonance. whatever looks cool

Re: Guitar Build Project....

by the way all of warmoth's bodies are bolt-on so, unless you're a snob on tone transfer, it shouldn't matter.

Re: Guitar Build Project....

there are just as many bolt on snobs as there are set neck...

...so listen to us instead :D

Re: Guitar Build Project....

If the bolt on joint is snug and good (and if your neck and body were both made by warmoth I'm sure they are) it doesn't matter what body shape you have. Seriously, the structural and tonal improvements, if they exist at all, are so tiny you have my permission to tell those folks to get stuffed.

Re: Guitar Build Project....

Just pick something with a nice pocket. Strat, Tele, Soloist, LP, VW, mockingbird, warlock, etc.... Also, check out USA Custom guitars. In my experience they have the absolute best in quality. Warmoth is good too, I just think that USACG is the absolute best. Their base charges are a little more, like on necks, but they don't upcharge for a lot of specifications like Warmoth does. They let you have whatever back shape and radius you want with no upcharge.

Cool. Thanks.. I think I might go with a carved top Soloist, actually.. I like the looks of it.... mahogony Body... Maple Top... MMM....... When I put it together and toss the Duncan's in there..... It's gonna be my dream axe. :)
