Guitar Crackling.

Okay, so recently I posted about a problem with my guitar, where it was causing a lot of buzzing noises. I fixed the grounding and what not, but now it is a crackling sound I get when playing. Especially on higher notes. I had this problem after I installed a Seymour Duncan Invader, a Liberator, and a new input jack.

Re: Guitar Crackling.

Did it actually improve from when you last posted or still the same?

heres what you do. Work backwards. Wire the Invader straight to the output jack. Listen and see if the crackling is still there. If it is its something with either the jack or pickup. (But i thought you said that the other pickups in the guitar didnt buzz so i would assume its not the jack) If it stops buzzing then hook up the invader to the switch then to the jack still bypassing the volume and tone controls. If it works here then connect it to your pots. Working this way piece by piece you can isolate the issue.

Re: Guitar Crackling.

Yeah it certainly improved. There's a bit of buzzing but no where near as much as before. Although the crackling is the problem. When I play the neck pickup the sound is clear, but there's the small amount of buzz. As for the bridge it is a bit more buzz, and again the crackling. I've been getting a lot of responses saying its the grounding but I've went over that in many different ways, from repositioning the wires to redoing the joints. I feel that it may be a bad wire. But I'm new to this, so I wouldn't know.

And to add to that I don't have any tone pots, just the Duncan Liberator for volume.

I'm gonna go ahead and work backwards like you said, and see if I get any results.

Thank you.

Re: Guitar Crackling.

One supplementary question: What amplifier and pedals do you use?

The output of an Invader humbucker could overload the A/D conversion chip of a budget digital modelling amplifier. Hence, the crackling sound could actually be digital clipping.

No pedals, I use a Fender mustang III amp
