@ Nightrunner: IMO Playability ALWAYS takes priority over cosmetics. What good does the most beautiful ornate guitar do me if it´s unplayable? ;)

I didn't think I posted anything about playability or cosmetics. I was just pondering whether scalloping a fretboard with block inlays would even be possible... :scratchch

& I agree with you, thus my slightly beat-up but VERY playable Jackson Soloist still being my #1 axe!

Wow, i honestly didnt expect this many responses to my post. Thank you all for your advice :bigthumb: I think what ive decided to do is scallop the neck of a cheap Squier Strat that I have. Ill try that out first and see how it goes from there. Thanks again!

Re: Guitar experts, I need your help!

Did somebody say scalloped LP?

No idea who this is but it's the only scalloped LP I've ever seen.

Re: Guitar experts, I need your help!

if you have a soft touch go for it. on a scalloped if you press to hard on the strings you will bend the which is good if you ment to bend it
if you use a heavy right hand technique you can change the pitch of the note. becuase there,s no wood to absorb pushing the string out of the the way.

either way they can be cool to play on just be aware you will have to make
small technique change' s in your playing but thats what makes you a better musician.

i wood highly suggest having someone do this for you or there company's that make scalloped necks ready to bolt on

Don't do it. Unless you're a highly skilled luthier (I mean for real), you're going to make a mess out of it. You run the risk of the neck bowing or twisting, going too deep over inlays that crumble, and leaving scrape marks everywhere.
Millions of guitarists play without scalloped fretboards, and you there's no reason to NOT be one of them.
I agree on all points of view! You MUST highly skilled to do this correctly!
