Guitar Fetish Bodies

Does anybody have any experience with these? I am considering ordering one of their Jazz bass copy bodies to replace the body of my old, heavy Peavey T-40 bass. The Peavey must weigh at least 8 lbs.; the Guitar Fetish body is about 3 1/2 lb.

Re: Guitar Fetish Bodies

Those bodies are Paulownia wood, which is quite soft, quick grown Asian lumber.

Basically they are made from stale bread.

Save some money and buy a Warmoth body out of the showcase. Finish it with hand rubbed oil, and love life.

Re: Guitar Fetish Bodies

I have made strats from both gfs and high end warmoth strat bodies.
It won't be a warmoth.
But neither will the weight and price....more like not a fraction.

Tried the gfs in Orange and was super light, very sturdy, and super resonant.
Very very resonant, just like other paulownia guitars I've tried.
Plays like poplar but weighs a ton less.

Just double check your neck pocket fitment.

Ps I, of course, adore my warmoth Alder body...just so it isn't twisted Haha

I didn't know that, very interesting.:cool2:

Re: Guitar Fetish Bodies

Both my Telecasters are Warmoth, and are excellent quality. I don't expect that from GFS. I was just hoping they were decent enough for a usable bass for occasional recording and jamming.

Re: Guitar Fetish Bodies

I would say yea.
Also, there is ton of literature out there about how cool paulownia is in general....random side note I guess. Growing a tree in a year and its properties overall are exciting to me....I might be wierd...
