Guitar Fetish Factory Buyout Clearance Sale

Re: Guitar Fetish Factory Buyout Clearance Sale

Everything I have seen so far has been basswood, ash or alder.

Re: Guitar Fetish Factory Buyout Clearance Sale

I looked at them for a while and the only thing that kept me from grabbing them is the only info they had on the site was pocket width, nothing about scale length or number of frets the "matching" neck had. Not to mention the pocket depth and so on. To many variables for me. Good luck.

Yeah the variables are massive haha. Most necks come in two scales. and the depth and other issues are easily sorted. Its not that much of a gamble haha

Re: Guitar Fetish Factory Buyout Clearance Sale

Anyone check out any of these items first hand? The prices are great...........just wonder how the guitars and basses play/sound. Thanks for sharing....

Re: Guitar Fetish Factory Buyout Clearance Sale

A dude on my local Guitarforum built 2 out of these parts and uses them as his main guitars. The body quality is fine. You get enough warning telling you that you're gonna have to invest some time and effort into it. Solid wood, multiple piece bodies that are CNC cut.
Scale seems mostly to be fender scale. Just get a neck and body from the clearance section and you should be fine

Re: Guitar Fetish Factory Buyout Clearance Sale

The items on the GF clearance sale web page resemble the sorts of budget guitar that might have appeared under a brand such as Tanglewood, Crafter or Shine. This should give some idea of the likely quality of any finished project instrument.

Yes, neck pockets can be tweaked. I would want to select a neck in person. There would still be plenty of work to put in.

The unfretted necks could make for an interesting instrument - either for Bumblefooting or for slide.

Be under no illusions.

Re: Guitar Fetish Factory Buyout Clearance Sale

Go look at the site again. If its a Gibson scale they specify it in the product title. The bodies all have that 25.5in scale written next to them so it should be assumed that the necks are the same scale. When in doubt, drop em an email. I've asked plenty of questions and they've replied to all of them.
I think they've changed their ways from back in the day when they'd didn't ever reply to people.
But yes Funkfingers is right... These are parts coming from a massive, now defunct Asian manufacturer and so if you're used to premium gibby's, gretsch's, PRS's and Fender's this probably aint for you to build a new main guitar... For anyone just looking to mess around with assembling their own or guys just starting out, you guys should be capitalising in this one :)

Re: Guitar Fetish Factory Buyout Clearance Sale

$18 dollars is just crazy. Whats the body wood?

Be careful when ordering these bodies. I order one on a whim a few months ago and it turned out to be MDF, not real solid wood. I emailed GFS and they honored my returning the body. I've ordered tons of parts from GFS over the years and 95% of what I received was ok.

Well i have never purchased anything from gfs nor do i plan to. I just thought 18 for a solid body was a great price.

Thanks for posting this, one of these lefties will be the body for my Slayer tribute axe..... Think Jeff's old Jacksons.....

Re: Guitar Fetish Factory Buyout Clearance Sale

Topic back from the dead- almost finished putting together a cheap project, neck and body were GFS factory buyout pieces for $15.95 each. Wilkinson strat trem, a used JB for the bridge, a couple of generic alnico single coils and a bunch of other cheap parts from GFS and Ebay. Sounded better than expected
