Guitar Fetish Quality

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

I have used their pickups (mainly the Lil Puncher Tele and Lil Killer Strat pickups). They're decent for the money. QC can be spotty on everything they sell. I did build a Tele using one of their paulwina bodies, a parchment pickguard, and ashtray bridge. The body is so light it's almost neck-heavy. That is almost unheard of in a Fender-style guitar. Here are a few pics of it.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

I've bought a lot of parts from GF, IMO their electronics are good quality and I've had great experience with their tuners. I built a parts strat with a neck off a squire and a body from them. I found the wood in the body to almost crumble at the sight of a drill but the finish was good and it looks pretty. Of course it has Duncan Pickups in it.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

I bought a set of Greybottoms to replace the stock non-RWRP set in my early Highway One. Totally happy with the build quality and resulting tone, especially for the price (got the entire set for what one AII Pro would have cost). If I had it to do over again I might go with the hot bridge ("Texas-style"), as the vintage-wound bridge is a little thin, but I wouldn't change my overall choice of brand or model.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

The import locking tuners are very good. The GFS pickups have been very good, specifically the humbucking pickups. I did not like the Neovin that I bought for a Strat when they first came out a few years ago.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

I have to agree with the "hit and miss" opinions. I love their Retrotrons. There's really nothing else like it on the market. I also love their overwound Tele Bridge pickups. Those are straight up awesome. On the other hand, I thought their "Vintage 59" pickup was the most sterile pickup I've ever played in my life. The Epiphone humbuckers made now a days are 10 times better than those. So again, it's hit and miss.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

I've got their pro series A5 & A2 humbuckers which I like much better than many name brand PAF's. I bought the Crunchy PATs and like them a little more than my Super Distortions. I also bought the Crunchy Rails and found they were good, but not my cup 'o tea. I'm planning on getting the VEH set for my next project.
