Guitar halfway between PRS and Les Paul?

Re: Guitar halfway between PRS and Les Paul?

UPDATE: My 2004 PRS McCarty arrived today, and she is perfect! Thank you everyone for the suggestion...to be honest, I'm a little shocked at how perfectly this guitar fits that elusive ideal I had in my mind! This guitar really is that "just right" balance (for me, anyways) between the PRS Custom series and a Les Paul: the look, the feel, the weight, and most importantly the sound, I couldn't be happier. I am looking forward to many years with this beauty :).

I'd say a PRS Singlecut or an ESP Eclipse with a full thickness body and top.

Nice color. I think it's called McCarty burst, and yours came out 10 years after the model was introduced in 94.

You can see that the stock pickups aren't bad at all. Not everyone rushes to replace them. The idea behind that guitar was to have a PRS that's similar in feel and sound to a 50's Les Paul.

Yup, exactly, this is a McCarty burst color. And you're right about the pickups, they're better than I expected. I probably will replace them but only because I want something fundamentally different (e.g. higher output in the bridge), if I wanted typical vintage PAF style I'd probably keep them.

This really does feel as if you took the Les Paul and scaled back a few things (overall size, thickness, neck profile), but kept the "good stuff" (tone, design, aesthetic)!

Cool, I have almost the exact same guitar, but with the bird inlays!

Haha, nice! The bird inlays would make it even pimp-er, but alas I couldn't find a good/not-too-expensive one on eBay...
