right now im looking at the line 6 tonepro rotosphere, the boss RT-20 and the hughes and kettner roto. the destination rotation has also been suggested to me. any of you guys have any experience with these pedals since the harmony central reviews are so mixed and half the time are written by idiots anyway?

Re: guitar leslie emulator

The Option5 Destination Rotation is pretty good, I had an older model, and they’ve changed it now. I used to use a real Leslie (borrowed, I had to give it back), & I thought the DR nailed the Leslie vibe, especially when used with 2 amps.

Now I use the Leslie sim in my TonelabLS (they’ve changed those, too.). It’s good too, again especially in stereo.

I would like to get a Motion sound rotating speaker, but it’s not high on my list of purchases now .

Re: guitar leslie emulator

The Hughes Rotosphere is pretty wicked...the Boss is a great second place unit. Not as deep & lush as the Roto, but it's also half the admission price. That one sounds good too, a bit too heavy on the drive but it's got the vibe down and even supplies 'swirly' wind noise like you get with a real Leslie cab.

I haven't tried the Line 6 but I've been highly underwhelmed by everything else they make...

Two further questions...does it need to be a pedal or can it be a rack box? And, how important is having a KILLER Leslie simulator to your rig?

I only ask before I send you off searching for the Holy Grail of Leslie simulations...

i would prefer it to be a pedal so that i can also use it for smaller shows and jamming when i dont drag my whole set up around. As for how important is having a killer leslie sim...well its not gonna be something i use constantly by any means, but when im gonna use it i want it to sound as good as possible cause if it doesnt sound that great then its just gonna bug me everytime i turn it on which is pointless. So unless there is a huge price difference...send me on your quest, lol

That explains your NickName :chairfall :chairfall
J/K!

Line6 roto pedal is really great.Tweakable as hell.Ofcourse not like the H&K ,but very close and much cheaper. The grat point is ,the Slow mode is really great.Since i use roto on my recording sounds (line6 toneport) ,i don't even use reverb on my patches!
I think i am going to purchase one too!
BTW ,the roto sound on ToneLab is really nice too!

Well, back in the '80s there was a company under the rule of EV that built a Leslie simulator which to this day, a WHOLE lotta guys swear is the be-all end-all of 'em with the possible exception of the Motionsound boxes.

They're rare...hence my discrection to even mention it publiclly...and they're also damn expensive when you DO find one. About the same cost as a Leslie 122 or 147 in decent shape...

Re: guitar leslie emulator

I've heard Arion SCH-Z Chorus pedals, when the speed is cranked, get really leslie-y. Cheap pedal, too.

Re: guitar leslie emulator

the only things besides a real rotating speaker ive ever liked enough to use more than once are my h&k rotosphere and a motion sound thing. both are cheap and neither is all that small.

ive never tried the line 6 so i cant speak from personal experience but ive heard a few people use it and i wasnt impressed at all
