Guitar magnet sellers in the UK/Europe.

Hi all,

Just to let you know that I've found a place in the UK that makes guitar bar magnets. I'd tried in the past to get them from Addiction FX in the US, but the cost of delivery made it a waste of time frankly!!

I've managed to get an Alnico IV, an Alnico VIII and a "double thick" Ceramic 8, all for under £10 sterling (I think it was about £8.40 with the postage and VAT). The cheapest I could find an Alnico VIII for anywhere else was £10, which I thought was "over the top" for just one small magnet, frankly!!

They do all types of magnets, although they told me that all the magnets they do come "polished", so if you are looking for a roughcast one, this might not be the place for you (although you could ask, I suppose).

There are probably quite a few guitarists in the UK that would, like me to try a magnet swap, but if the magnets are too expensive then it kind of defeats the object of magnet swapping being a cheap option.

I had a JB that I didn't like the sound of "stock" in a Jackson DK2S (the sustainiac one), and after swapping the Alnico V mag out for an Alnico VIII, I'm just so much happier with the sound I'm getting.

Anybody out there worrying about messing their pickup up doing this, shouldn't be too concerned because I'm not great at this either, but I managed it, and if I can do it, anyone can, you just have to be a little careful of the wires coming out of the pickup!!!

The good thing about this company is that although on the site the magnets are in metric sizes, they do actually make them in "imperial" sizes. I don't know if it matters that much, but I've found in the past that with tolerances when it comes to guitar parts, it's always best to err on the side of caution!

Anyway, since most of the "name" brand pickups, tend to be made in the US (Duncan, Gibson, Dimarzio, etc...), it makes sense to be using imperial sized magnets, because it what these companies would be using stock anyway.

If anyone would like to check them out they are called "Cermag", and the link is here;

I've used Cermag a couple of times. Roughcast aside, they do more than they tend to list, so worth asking if you don't see what you're after.
