Guitar Neck Break! How to repair?

Hi all!

Unfortunately one of my guitars I bought has a broken neck! It was fairly inexpensive, so I've been fully refunded. So I'm going to have a crack at repairing it. Though I have no clue what to do! If anyone could help it'd be much appreciated! It's cracked half way down, around the 7th fret. Fretboard is intact fortunately. Truss rod seems intact.

+1 to that. It's a very ugly crack!! I wouldn't mess with that myself and take it to a skilled luthier to see what he thinks about it and how much it would cost.

Not worth the cost unfortunately. If the repair fails, it's no big loss really

The problem there is the break is mostly end grain.....which has no structural integrity when glued.

You tend to have to rout splines in the back of the neck which give the amount of long grain required for the glue to hold. But the first step there is to get glue into the existing breaks and close them up so the neck is sitting together. In that state you need to check the fretboard to see how it is setup too. At the end of the whole process a refret and fretboard re-radius might be needed too.

Lemme guess..... Les Paul copy? Yes, that is a BAD break, and one that would be rather on the pricey side to have repaired and finish touched-up. What we yet don't know is this.... Is the truss rod damaged?

I have repaired necks broken as badly as this, and worse - and the instrument lived to play again. But I charged for it, and you should expect to do so, too. Or you can sell it on eBay like so many often do.

Meh, it's only a cosmetic flaw, just play it

Duct tape. The guitar deserves it for breaking at the 7th. Or just sell it as a Pete Townshend Signature model.

Remove hardware. Sell hardware on eBay. Use guitar for firewood.
