Guitar Neck Finish

Hi I am going to put a finish on my guitar neck. It is a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. I was wondering if should mask off the fretboard and put a finish on only the maple or put a finish on the whole neck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Rosewood does not need to be finished since it is oily enough to protect itself from the elements.

Yes, you would need to mask off the rosewood board and then spray or rub on a finish onto the maple.
