Guitar neck had to be steam treated - problem fixed, but guitar sounds different... w

Re: Guitar neck had to be steam treated - problem fixed, but guitar sounds different.

I'd wait until you talk to the tech on Monday but my bet would be different strings and/or pickup height was changed somehow.

This is good advise. Don't panic
just talk to the tech and go from there. It's probably nothing more then different strings

How is it that this procedure was performed at all? Afaik, with labor prices what they are, it would probably be cheaper to REPLACE the entire fretboard than to try to bake (?) it to dewarp it...

I am not going to disclose the cost, but it was very, very reasonable. I talked to the tech today and I think he said he may have used either GHS strings or a brand I have never heard of, called "Darko". I am picking up my favorite set tonight, I think things will be just fine.

ah yea, Darco strings. Martin strings, but I seem to remember them sucking when I used them in the early 90s on my crapcaster.
