Guitar photography thread #1 ... errr I mean my Gibson SG for sale

Something Cool
[PENDING]

The following guitar and I have decided to see other people.

Me and SGs are just not going to happen.

(disclaimer: I do more than amateur photography. The following
pictures have been adjusted for true color representation and have
been shot in good light. No editing to hide dings or other details
has been done. The guitar will look like this is you open my package
in good light, but it will not look like this in a gloomy cellar.
Unedited photos available or I can bring out the Powershot if you like)

1997 black SG standard

Currently has WCR darkbursts mounted. These are PAF-style boutique
pickup and pretty hard-hitting, thicker than most. I think they suit
the SG very well.

Fresh fret level/dress/polish done early 2009 and beautiful fingerboard:

Thingies has the ABR bridge, that means narrow bridge and the posts go
directly into the wood, it doesn't use the metal anchors in the
guitar's top:

I have a total of 4 pickguards:
- black Gibson original 4-ply
- black allparts 3-ply
- one creme WD music currently mounted
- one creme WD music sealed

To change pickups in this thing you have to take the TOM off. My plan
always was to cut up one of the spare pickguard so that you can put it
on and off without messing with the bridge. It's probably worth it.

Also in this pictures is an aluminium tailpiece, the one that Stew-mac
sells.

Pricing:
- $800 no pickups, one pickguard, with case
- $750 no pickups, one pickguard, no case
- $1000 with the WCR darkbursts, one pickguard + case
- if you buy the guitar any additional pickguard is $15
- if you buy the guitar the light tailpiece is $20
- $1050 package with WCRs, case, all pickguards and both tailpieces

Other pickups available:
- pair of covered 490R/498T
- pair of double black 490R/490T
- newish DC double black no logo

[more pickup options to show up in a new thread today]

Is it the neck size/profile that don't work for you?

Re: Guitar photography thread #1 ... errr I mean my Gibson SG for sale

Gosh, wrong section. Can somebody move to the forsale section?

My problem with SGs is that the sound is just too fizzly for me. I like massive walls of sound from a LP and the sound from tremoloed Stratocasters.

The neck profile is a very even half circle somewhere between a 50ties and 60ties neck.

Nice. If me and SGs got along, I'd be tempted

it is worth it to cut up the pickguard, unfortunately i only cut it up after i stopped doing pickup mods to my SG:lmao:

Bump.

Can some moderator please move to the forsale section?

Bump.

Due to a business trip and Christmas time approaching I might have to put this on Ebay soon.

Any offers? Keep in mind it's cheap if you put in your own pickups.

I would be interested in a couple of different Mesa Combos.

A Strat (but I can't accept Partscasters for this).

Re: Guitar photography thread #1 ... errr I mean my Gibson SG for sale

Very good deal here people. The Gibson fretboards in the 90s were much better looking, and you can't get an ABR-1 bridge on any Gibson USA any more. You have to go historic.

I have a 1998 SG Std.. I'd call my neck profile (there could be slight differences) a 50s. Much fuller than my Classic PP or 2002 LP Std. 60s. Slightly fuller than my 2004 R0.

Bump.

Flying to London Saturday, so if anybody over there wants it that is doable.
